Echologics Signs Service Agreement for Transmission Main Leak Detection With the City of Tampa Water Department

April 18, 2012

ATLANTA, April 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Echologics, a division of Mueller Co. and a developer and leading provider of acoustic-based technologies for water loss management, leak detection, and pipe condition assessment, has secured a service agreement with the City of Tampa Water Department. According to the agreement, Echologics will provide the department, which treats and delivers drinking water throughout the Tampa Bay area, with Transmission Main Leak Detection for approximately 7.5 miles of pipe in its water system that is comprised primarily of cast iron.

"The forward-thinking decision of the City of Tampa Water Department to leverage Echologics' Transmission Main Leak Detection service will help it to efficiently improve conservation as well as its sustainability as a relied upon water service provider," said Marc Bracken, Vice President and General Manager of Echologics. "By partnering with Echologics, the department will not only be able to pinpoint costly leaks in its system that are responsible for losing treated water, they will be able to do so without interrupting service or disturbing surrounding infrastructure."

Echologics pioneered the development of a proprietary, acoustic-based system that non-invasively locates leaks and assesses the structural condition of both water and force mains. Water service providers across North America and in Europe, South Africa, Asia and Australia have leveraged Echologics' technology to prioritize pipeline rehabilitation and replacement plans, and reduce water loss on all classes of pipes, for diameters ranging from 4" to 108". Mueller Co. and Echologics are subsidiaries of Mueller Water Products, Inc. (NYSE:MWA), a leading North American manufacturer and marketer of products and services that are used in the transmission, distribution and measurement of water.
